Community foundation announces fall grant recipients

The Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation awarded $36,455 during its fall grant cycle. Projects were funded through the community foundation’s Dane G. Hansen Community Grant Fund.

The following organizations received funding:

  • Ellsworth County Fair Association, $9,386 to help purchase and install a storage shed to house its growing inventory.
  • Kanopolis Sunflower Civic Club, $8,000 to purchase 15 pole-mount snowflakes to decorate the main streets of Kanopolis for Christmas.
  • Lang Memorial Library, Wilson, $4,813 for an outdoor sign with a changeable message board.
  • Ellsworth County Historical Society, $4,200 for supplies to preserve, catalog and index thousands of photographs and documents in its archival collection.
  • Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wilson, $3,400 for multiple service projects to benefit physical and spiritual well-being of the community.
  • City of Kanoplis, $3,053 for the purchase and installation of an adult/toddler Expression Swing for Kanopolis City Park.
  • USD 327, $1,974 to purchase an AED for the community’s recreation center.
  • City of Kanoplis, $1,629 to remodel the library’s youth room with new equipment and furniture.
