Community foundation awards over $73,000 in spring grants ELLSWORTH, Kan.— During its spring grant cycle, the Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation awarded over $73,000 to 12 projects throughout Ellsworth County. The following organizations received funding: Wilson Economic Development Corporation, $4,500 for the annual clean up project. Feeding the Children of Central Kansas, $5,183 to expand the summer food service program. Paul Aylward American Legion Post 174, $6,000 for building and handicap door upgrades. Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation accepting grant applications. ELLSWORTH, Kan.—The Smoky Hills Charitable Foundation is now accepting applications for spring grants. Online applications are due Monday, March 15, 2021. Last spring, the charitable foundation awarded the Ellsworth County Fair Association with funding to provide a better and safer county fair. The fair experience was enhanced for both spectators and attendees.   This funding allowed the fair association to upgrade the sound system with additional speakers and make repairs to the bleachers.
